Who are the N.M. Roadrunners?

The Roadrunners are a diverse group of archers in age, ability, goals, interests, and experiences. We are an organization that offers a place to participate and develop skills in the sport of target archery through educational classes, coaching, practice, and competitions.

Short History:

The club was formed in 1997 by Wyatt and Linda Misenheimer who moved on to Texas in 2001. With their leaving the leadership of the club was left to Jay and Jenniffer Harvey. In the beginning we had 10 members with lots of enthusiasm. The club as grown and changed since its small beginnings. Some of our archers are ranked nationally and some in the World ranks. We have hosted the Indoor Nationals & JOAD Western Regional from 2001-2004, 2007-2009. We run a program based on the love of the sport of target archery, and character building.

Basic membership: 1st year is $150 ( includes membership into NMR, USARchery, lessons, equipment use for first few months, and a few other items, Second year is $25

Equipment:

The Roadrunners have equipment that we let the beginners use for the first 3 months in the club. We encourage you to use the equipment (bows and arrows) because your muscles and skills change rapidly during the first months. We will help you select your own equipment when you are ready. Purchasing your own equipment is a big step but important one if you want to shoot competitively. We know the cost can deter many from this process but we can get you into used equipment if need be. Part of your dues covers the rental of the equipment for the first 3 months in club. After that the fee is $5 per session or $20 per month. NO Roadrunner equipment is to leave the building. It belongs to the club.

Schedule:

A schedule is available when you sign up. Please be aware that the schedule can change due to a variety of reasons. PLEASE have an up to date phone as well as email address available for last minute changes.  I will always let archers know when changes will happen well in advance. If you have not attended practices recently call me or check the web for updates. I do not have the time available to me to call each of the members unfortunately. The schedule is usually updated every two months and I have them available at practice.

Newsletter:

To keep the archers up to date on happenings I put out a newsletter. Please be aware of this and READ it for it contains lots of useful updates on schedules and such! The newsletter is on the webpage. I will mail one if you do not have access or you can pick a copy up at practice.

Volunteering Staff:

We are always looking for helpers, set up, tear down, tournaments, helping coaches with archers, scoring for kids, concessions at tournaments, fundraising ideas and doing the fundraising, equipment check in and out, and lots of other areas!  We ask that all members participate in the club and help with all aspects of the club.  WE can not do it alone.

A note, PLEASE do not leave your child before checking in with one of the adult leaders...If by chance practice is canceled due to an emergency or a schedule mix up....or we need to leave earlier than scheduled...I am responsible for everyone at the range and cannot leave until all are picked up or leave the school grounds. Also ... all archers and observers need to stay within the gym. No youth are allowed in the hallways before during or after practice. Eagle Ridge Middle School has been gracious in letting us use their facilities and I would like to keep it that way.

We are glad you decided to become a Roadrunner and look forward to working with you in the family sport of a lifetime.
